The Cirque de Mourèze

Among this chaotic collection of gigantic limestone rocks you could be forgiven for thinking you're in another magical, timeless world... or on another planet!
A number of hiking trails offer the possibility for adventure at this unique and very unusual natural heritage site.
A viewing table has been installed at the panoramic viewpoint in the Courtinals Park, from where most of the cirque can be admired. The archaeological part at "Les Courtinals" also features a scientific reconstitution of a Gallic hut from 350 BC, in addition to a small museum with an exhibition of the various remains found at the site.
The  Cirque de Mourèze was once home to prehistoric man (including several oppida and caverns), with charcoal makers and shepherds settling here later. Today, the absence of the herds has allowed the vegetation to encroach once again on the site, which is chiefly visited by hikers who head here to explore the natural maze of strangely shaped rocks.
